Have you heard about Morel?
Meir Mordechai, creator of leading speaker brand Morel, had an unrivaled desire to create the perfect loudspeaker. In 1975 he took his passion for sound to the next level, creating the brand we know and love, and bringing the world along on his quest for superb sound quality.
The Morel brand (derived from Mordechai Electro-acoustics) and products have received many awards over the years, including the 2018 CTA Innovations Award. What sets Morel apart from other audio manufacturers is that each of their products is made by hand and extensively tested. Seven thorough tests to be precise. This was Meir’s vision and the brand has stayed true to its roots. With almost half a century of dedication and commitment to the dream, the team at Morel always excel in creating precise sound.
The latest generation of Morel speakers feature uniquely patterned grilles with odd shaped and sized cutouts. This may seem random but the holes have been thoroughly tried and tested to ensure they significantly minimize the ‘horn’ effect you may have experienced with lesser quality speakers. By eliminating the resonant frequencies that reflect and degrade sound, these shapes bring you optimum sound quality!
Street Sound and Vision is thrilled to be aligned with this incredible brand, which is now available at all of our store locations in Melbourne. We can even ship directly to your door via our online store. Want the high end performance of Morel featured in your vehicle? Don’t hesitate to come in to our stores for a peek (Keilor Park, Thomastown or Mitcham) or contact us today - www.streetsoundvision.com.au.
Morel have put so much research and development into their line of speakers, and have so much experience in the creation of top-of-the-line products, that you would be hard pressed to find anything that comes closer to sound like this - clean, crisp and a pure delight to the auditory system.
We can’t recommend these speakers enough, but take a tip from us - it’s important to listen to the speakers you choose to put in your vehicle before they go in. And, when you do, it’s even more important to choose music that you plan to listen to - whether it’s Katy Perry’s latest, the newest banger from Drake, an Ed Sheeran ballad, or a classic from Dire Straits! The more familiar you are with your favourite tracks the more impressive these speakers become.
Morel high end audio equipment is distributed and sold in over 55 countries around the world, catering for home hifi, home theatre systems and most importantly for SSV Street Sound and Vision mobile audio! They are widely renowned for their in-house research, partnered with their own manufacturing (as a opposed to cheaper offshore manufacturing that others employ) and development, keeping them ahead of the game.
Let’s check out just a few of the fantastic Morel offerings available right now at SSV:
The Morel Maximo 602 component speakers are moderately priced in terms of car audio but don’t be fooled, these babies have incredible harmonics - arguably the best in the price bracket. Offering the power handling of 90 wrms and a neat 90.5db sensitivity, these speakers play nicely even from modest power. Computer modeled suspension in the midrange woofer combined with the lightweight papercone ensure wonderful accuracy in sound reproduction. A unique feature that really sets the Maximo Ultra apart is the external voice coil, which has been specifically designed by Morel for the Maximos. The highs are meticulously produce by the 1” soft dome tweeters featured in this kit and are capable of frequencies from 3500Hz, stretching right up to 20kHz. Fantastic all rounders and definitely a great starting point to enter into this high end brand.

The Tempo Ultra 602 component speakers are more of a mid level 6 ½” component kit. Boasting a 120 wrms power rating, which may be obvious when you see that the midrange woofer is composed of a treated composite paper cone, they also feature a generous sized 1.5” voice coil combined with a high grade ferrite magnet. They can reproduce frequencies from 55Hz to beyond the peak of human hearing at 22kHz. This over-engineering allows your senses to pick up more than just sound! The 1.1” Neodymium tweeters are silky smooth on all the high notes. Overall a real delight to listen to and are highly recommended around the traps at SSV.

At first glance, looking at the Morel Hybrid 602 component speakers you would be forgiven for underestimating their sheer power - their simple black aesthetic is hardly suggestive of the sound quality these bad boys can create. Modesty is key here with a power figure of 140 wrms, but when we consider how efficient these guys are at 91db sensitivity, we know that they utilise every last drop of power that is given to them. The Hexatech Aluminum voice coil of the midrange drivers are a whopping 2” which are how they cope with 140 wrms day in and day out. Very impressive MXR crossovers make sure the correct frequencies head off to the correct components and allow the the 28mm Acuflex coated tweeter to reach right up to an unearthly 25Khz! If you are looking for a set of speakers that will really put a smile on your face everyday you hear them, but without the price tag to make your wallet sad, then these are the speakers for you!
